SB 1382 is a common sense bill that would allow handguns to be stored in toolboxes/utility boxes affixed to truck beds. 

Existing law requires a person to lock a handgun in one of three specific locations in an unattended vehicle, but utility boxes are not currently allowed. This bill would deem utility boxes as acceptable containers for storage, as long as they are locked. 

SB 1382 promotes firearm safety and security but does not infringe on the rights of gun owners.
