S 2179-- the "Massachusetts  Bump Stock Ban" -- In an effort to "do something" this firearm device ban was stuck into a fast-moving spending bill, bypassing the robust policy discussion that such a drastic measure and the people it may affect deserve.

This bill will ban, ..."any device for a semiautomatic firearm that increases the rate of fire achievable with such firearm by using energy from the recoil of the firearm to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger."

As you can see this language could have serious unintended consequences as the number of objects and methods to bump-fire a firearms or use its recoil to facilitate activation of the trigger is legion.
