AB 1872 is an anti-Second Amendment measure brought forward by Republican Assembly Member Randy Voepel from San Diego County. 

The bill further complicates the already-esoteric “Unsafe Handgun Act” regulatory scheme by exempting more government employees for no reason. 

This legislation adds to the proposition that the law-abiding people of California have fewer fundamental rights related to handgun ownership than the people they employ. 

Additionally, AB 1872 puts law-abiding licensed gun store owners at risk of losing their license, losing their business, and potentially going to jail (and losing their own gun rights) by facilitating an otherwise legal transaction if between two individuals if the seller used this exemption to purchase the firearm (which there is no way of knowing). 

This bill must be stopped.
