Alleged members of a violent Bronx-based gang were arrested early Wednesday on federal narcotics, racketeering, robbery and firearms charges, law enforcement officials say.

The gang, known as the MacBallas, allegedly operated in and around the Andrew Jackson and Melrose Houses in the Bronx dealing heroin and crack cocaine and committing robberies and other acts of violence, including the 2011 murder of Daniel Delgado, officials say.

A total of 20 members and associates of the MacBallas street gang were charged with racketeering, narcotics, robbery and firearms offenses, authorities say, adding that a total of 12 individuals were taken into custody Wednesday. Three other people were already in federal custody and three others were already in state custody.
