You’re informed that under current federal law, it’s illegal to carry within 1,000 feet of a school without having a valid, federally compliant carry license issued by each and every single state you carry in.
And although you have a license to carry in your home state, you don't have one for the state you commute to work in.

HOW YOUR LIFE COULD BE DESTROYED
The next thing you know, you’re brought before a judge, and despite telling the court you never even knew about this law, you’re convicted of a crime and sent to jail.
You lose your job, your house, your savings, and even your very freedom - all because you exercised a right the government claims to recognize.
This may be shocking, but it’s true. Even as we speak, people just like you are being federally prosecuted, and YOU could be their next victim!
And unfortunately, neither state-level reciprocity or “constitutional” (permitless) carry statutes exempt you from this federal law.
BUT WHAT'S THE SOLUTION?
Unfortunately, the only way to make sure you’re not turned into a CRIMINAL for exercising your natural right to bear arms is to change the law.
The good news is Congress is considering H.R. 38 - a concealed carry reciprocity bill - right now, and Pres. Trump has expressed support for reciprocity.
The bad news is that in its current form, H.R. 38 still preserves many FELONY TRAPS that you could fall into while carrying your firearm, such as:
- Requiring you to carry a government-issued photo ID and carry license at all times while carrying - or be sent to jail and possibly lose your rights for life.
- Allowing states to ban carry on all public property - completely defeating the point of the bill and setting you up for surprise legal traps in unmarked “Gun Free Zones.”
- Only protecting one handgun, one magazine, and only the ammo loaded into it - meaning you could be charged with a felony just for carrying a spare mag.
Tell Congress to Fix H.R. 38 & Then Pass It!
HOW CAN I HELP?
Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) is rallying gun owners to fix H.R. 38 - and then pass it. We’ve proposed changes to H.R. 38 to:
- Ensure peaceable people aren’t jailed for honest mistakes.
- Guarantee carry rights in non-secured public places nationwide.
- Ensure that people are fully protected while carrying and traveling with firearms.
But right now, there’s a very real risk that H.R. 38 could be signed into law without removing its current traps, which would be a TOTAL BETRAYAL of gun owners!
What's more, passing H.R. 38 without fixing it would actually make the situation worse by lulling gun owners into a sense of complacency by thinking they've won.
Some people will think "hey, we have reciprocity, so I can carry without having to worry." But nothing could be further from the truth under H.R. 38.
Indeed, we make it clear in our FAQ on H.R. 38 that weak statutory language can be ignored, narrowed or even abused by gun-hating courts and prosecutors.
