HB 1009 is a Republican authored bill that would prohibit the carrying of all firearms, some types of knives and other weapons on college and university property. HB 1009 even goes as far as prohibiting these items not only on public colleges, but also private universities. This will ensure that places of higher learning in Texas will become soft targets for criminals and mass shooters.
