Tell the Senate: Pass Historic NFA Reforms!
The Senate Finance Committee reconciliation text includes sweeping changes to the NFA:
-
- Removes suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and “any other weapons” (AOWs) from the National Firearm Act's (NFA) definition of "firearm" -- removing them from the NFA!
- Eliminates the government’s authority to classify shotguns as destructive devices!
- Eliminates the $5 transfer tax for AOWs!
- Preempts state and local registration or licensing laws that rely solely on NFA classification, so long as the owner acquired the item in compliance with federal (GCA) requirements!
- Ensures that owners of short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and AOWs don’t run afoul of state and local laws requiring registration or licensing requirement under the National Firearms Act as long as they lawfully acquire or possess them under other federal laws (GCA)!
