Bill/Issue: MD HB 740 - Bans 3D Printed Guns
- Position: Opposed
- Author: Del. Dumais (D-15)
- Summary: HB 740 would make it illegal to manufacture or possess a 3D printed firearm and punishable with a $5,000 fine or up to 5 years in jail.
HB 740 is Maryland’s attempt at “solving” the faux-crisis of 3D-printed firearms. What this bill actually accomplishes is making more law-abiding people criminals and not solving the underlying issue. HB 740 will limit the home-built firearm hobby and place an undeserved punishment on the people.
