Summary: CA AB 12 seeks to radically expand California’s Gun Violence Restraining Order by increasing the duration of the restraining order from one year to potentially 5 years. GVROs stand for the proposition that gun owners can have their rights and property taken from them by force on the basis of allegations without the government having even reasonable suspicion, let alone probable cause or constitutionally sufficient adjudication. CA AB 12 will potentially cause innocent people to lose their ability to protect their property and themselves.
