Yesterday, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed 5 of the worst anti-gun bills we have ever seen by ignoring their own rules and fast tracking them to the Governor.

But we didn’t know the depths they would go to in order to hurry these bills along.

4 of the 5 bills have now been placed on the consent calendar, which means they can pass without ever being brought up for a formal vote!

The consent calendar is a procedural file that bills without any opposition or amendments are placed in order to expedite their passage.

Gunpocalypse does not, however, meet any of those criteria!

The bills placed on the consent calendar are as follows:
AB 1673 (Gipson): Redefines “firearms” to include items that are not firearms.
AB 1674 (Santiago): Bans buying more than one firearm within a 30-day period.
AB 1695 (Bonta): Makes some non-violent misdemeanors punishable by prohibitions on owning firearms.
AB 2607 (Ting): Dramatically expands who can request a Gun Violence Restraining order.

We need to demand that Senate President Kevin de Leon follow the rules of the his own Senate and remove these bills from the consent calendar RIGHT NOW!

After you sign our petition to him, call de Leon and demand that he “follow Joint Rule 22.1 and remove these bills from the consent calendar immediately”: (916) 651-4024

This is urgent!

These bills could pass on Thursday without ever being brought up on the Floor.
