You did it!

We are happy to report that President-Elect Trump has listened to the countless gun owners who voiced their opposition to General David Petraeus as Secretary of State and has picked Rex Tillerson.

While the business mogul does not have a public history on the Second Amendment, we know we dodged a bullet with Petraeus.

Petraeus is the founding member of a gun control advocacy group with a Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly.

Yes, the same Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly who spent the entirety of 2016 campaigning for Hillary Clinton on the basis of enacting stricter gun laws.

But what does that have to do with the Secretary of State position?

The Secretary of State is in charge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which covers the import and export of “defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List” and can levy oppressive fees and regulations on gunsmiths and manufacturers.

Hobbyist and small business gunsmiths could be driven out of business if an anti-gun Trump appointee shared similar positions on firearms as the Obama appointee.

Essentially, having a Secretary of State who openly advocates for more gun control, and who has the ability to reinterpret regulations without Congressional oversight, would be disastrous for gun owners, hobbyist gunsmiths, and manufacturers.

As such, we are thankful that President-Elect Trump has listened to the voices of those that elected him. And we are thankful for you for speaking out and signing our petitions ensuring we dump Petraeus as a SOS appointee.
