We're surprised that it took so long for him to blame the Second Amendment.

Anyone who pays attention in the aftermath of mass shootings knows that Democrats exploit the tragedies to push for additional gun control legislation. Now, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is using the NYC bombing as an excuse. He went even further.

Reid said on Monday that stricter gun control laws would prevent another terrorist attack.

"We can argue from now on about whether this bill would have prevented this weekend's attacks. But one thing is for sure, it would prevent the next attack."
The bill Reid was talking about would ban anyone on a federal terror watch list from purchasing firearms or explosives.

There's only one problem here, but we'll get to that in a minute.

Referring to the so-called "no fly, no buy" bill, Reid said "Republicans refuse to close the terror gap loophole," adding:

"It's hard to believe in America today an FBI terror suspect not allowed to fly on an airplane can walk into a gun story in Las Vegas, New York City, anyplace, and legally purchase explosives and assault weapons."

Back to the problem. Ahmad Rahami was not on a terror watch list. Neither were Syed Farook nor his wife, Tafik Malik, who killed 14 people in San Bernadino last year.

As to using terror watch lists to ban American citizens from purchasing guns, even the left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union is against the idea, saying "the use of error-prone and unfair watch lists is not the way to regulate guns in America."
