The California Assembly and Senate Appropriations committees voted to advance a half-dozen anti-gun bills on Friday.

These bills, which Firearms Policy Coalition opposes, are now inching closer to floor votes
and full passage. However, there is still time for law-abiding gun owners to oppose them as well!

Here are the bills that passed advanced Friday:

Assembly Bill 1968

Evan Low’s bill would prohibit ANYONE who’s admitted to a mental health facility more than once in a year from owning guns. This discriminatory bill could be used to even bar people who are simply suffering from depression from owning a firearm.

Assembly Bill 1927

This bill is the brainchild of Assemblyman Rob Bonta. The bill would seek to allow people to voluntarily place themselves on a “Do Not Sell” list. This would then render that person ineligible to purchase or receive a firearm.

Assembly Bill 2382

Mike Gipson’s bill would would strictly regulate and require background checks for a variety of firearm parts. This would also include 80% lower receivers and other unfinished parts.

Senate Joint Resolution 24

This piece of legislation would call on call on California Pension Employee Retirement System (CalPERS) to encourage gun companies to cease the production of firearms. The bill would also set the stage for CalPERS to divest from gun companies.

Senate Bill 1100

This bill from Anthony Portantino would ban people under 21 from purchasing guns and ammo. It would also bar the sale of more than one firearm in a 30-day period to a person.

Senate Bill 1200

Nancy Skinner’s bill would expand Gun Violence Restraining Orders to include gun parts and magazines.

FPC is calling on its members and supporters to OPPOSE these measures. There is still time to stop these bills in their tracks. But we need to increase the pressure on our state legislators. Please voice your opposition to these bills NOW!

We can’t afford to sit idly by while the California tyrants trample over our sacred Constitutional rights!
