Bill - S 446: The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017
- See also HR 38 (companion bill)
- Position: Strongly support
- Sponsor: Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)
The time has come for national, universal concealed carry reciprocity in the United States.
For far too long Americans have had to watch their fundamental rights to self defense and their enumerated right to bear arms be curtailed by a patchwork of various state and local laws.
Residents of one state may have more access to their rights than those in other states. Travelers must make the tough choice between compliance with local laws and personal or family safety.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would bring us closer the the equality that we are entitled to by allowing CCW holders to carry their weapons into another state while mitigating potential criminal liability.
The Second Amendment does not stop at a state border. Our fundamental right to self-defense transcends state laws.
While FPC is interested in friendly amendments to improve the measure to keep gun owners out of criminal jeopardy, it is important that this bill start moving NOW!
