Whereas, President Obama has proven himself to be a radical, power-hungry chief executive that has little respect for the Constitution; and

Whereas, Contrary to President Obama's opinion, the rights protected under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution are not second-class rights; and

Whereas, Merrick Garland, President Obama's nominee to replace Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, has a record that suggests he would not think twice before gutting the fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms and undermining the Court's landmark D.C. v. Heller decision; and

Whereas, Following Justice Antonin Scalia's untimely passing, President Obama has shown once again that he will take every opportunity to expand government power and rewrite the Constitution in his progressive, authoritarian image; and

Whereas, Merrick Garland has shown the American people that he cannot be entrusted to rule in a manner consistent with the Constitution's text and original public meaning; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, that the Members and Supporters of Firearms Policy Coalition call upon the members of the United States Senate to reject Merrick Garland and any other nominee who would further erode our precious individual liberties, including and especially the right to keep and bear arms.
