- HR 4168: Closing the Bump Stock Loophole Act
- Position: Strongly Opposed.
- Authors: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-08) and Congressman Dave Trott (R-MI-11)
HR 4168 is a so called "bipartisan" effort to deal with the "bump stock" issue.
Two Republican legislators have put forward legislation that would take what they call "a reciprocating stock, or any other device which is designed to accelerate substantially the rate of fire of a semiautomatic weapon" and regulate it under the NFA like a supressor.
This bill faces the same issue as every other bump stock ban: what does it mean to accelerate the rate of fire?
What does it mean for a device to be designed to accelerate the rate fire?
What were after market triggers designed for? What about after market springs?
HR 4168 is another one of these broad, over reaching bills that will create a regulatory nightmare for gun owners and firearm dealers.
Tell your representative that you strongly oppose HR 4168 and send them an email today.
