- HR 3998: The Secret Lists Act
- Position: Strongly Opposed.
- Author: Rep. Zeldin, Lee M. [R-NY-1]
A favorite strategy used by the gun grabbers is tying fundamental, enumerated rights to secret lists.
This bill is just another version of the same old tricks we've seen before.
It would notify the Attorney General when anyone who has been investigated in the past 5 years for being a "suspected terrorist" attempts to buy a firearm.
There is no clarification on what a "suspected terrorist" is, no due process, and no way to appeal.
Gun owners don't need to be told that Attorney General Holder has a radically different definition of "suspected terrorist" than Attorney General Sessions.
This bill is no good. Rights don't come from secret lists generated by government bureaucrats.
