AB 1927 is a well-intentioned bill that suffers from a few serious flaws.

It requires the DOJ to create an "easily accessible", internet-based platform that individuals can use to add themselves to a "Do Not Sell" list for firearms.

The bill is problematic because, while a person may request to have his/her name removed from the list, that request may not be completely fulfilled for a variety of reasons. In other words, many individuals may be stuck on the list forever.

In addition, the bill does not require proper identification for proof of identity, there is no provision to punish/penalize abuses of the system, and there is no provision for allowing people on the list to change/remove notification emails.
