Bill/Issue: NY SB 1174 - Restoration of Right to Bear Arms After Release
- Position: Support
- Author: Sen. Amedore (R-46)
New York law currently restricts felons from possessing a firearm after they’ve been released from prison, even if their crime was non-violent. SB 1174 permits those who are deemed fit to re-enter society to exercise their right to bear arms. SB 1174 makes the moral statement that those who have repaid their debt to society should not be forced to be second class citizens.
