Rhode Island anti-gun groups seek gun ban on school grounds

Anti-gun advocates armed themselves with petitions and signatures to deliver to Rhode Island lawmakers.
….They favor legislation that would ban guns on school grounds, taking away the exemption for those with a legal permit to carry a concealed weapon.
“They could carry them on a school bus. They could carry them to a sporting event. They could carry them into a parent-teacher meeting – any of that. We want to ban that,” said Jerry Belair of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence.
The only exceptions would be trained law enforcement or retired police in good standing.
“They’re the only people we feel should be carrying guns,” said Belair. “You know, even Texas doesn’t allow guns to be carried in school.”
