Bill/Issue: MO SB 23 - “Red Flag” Firearms Restraining Order

Summary: SB 23 would allow family members or law enforcement officers to petition the court to confiscate a person’s firearms. Justifications include a perceived risk of the person hurting themselves and alleged alcohol abuse. Meaning that law enforcement could come and kick down your door for a joke someone else took wrong or because someone else thought you drank a little too much a little too often. SB 23 will place Missourian gun owners in direct danger of violent law enforcement raids, gun confiscation, and restraining orders all based on accusations they would not be able to defend against. SB 23 is a clear violation of your Sixth Amendment rights in order to attack your Second.
