Morgan misinterpreted the Second Amendment on 2 counts.

Via Conservative Firing Line:

On Monday, Piers Morgan, the British subject who once worked as a rabid anti-gun talk show host at CNN, called for a ban of all semi-automatic weapons in the U.S., declaring that “no civilian needs one.”

“I think ALL semi-automatic guns should be banned, just as automatic guns are banned,” he said on Twitter. “No civilian needs one except to kill a lot of people very quickly.”

He followed that up by showing his complete ignorance of the Second Amendment — something that doesn’t even apply to him.

According to Morgan, the Second Amendment “was never intended to mean an individual’s right to bear arms – outside of a ‘well regulated militia’.”

Oh really, Piers?  Well, let’s take a look at what George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment, had to say about that.

“I ask who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers,” he said in a 1788 address to the Virginia Ratifying Convention.

Surely Morgan would accept the word of the man who actually WROTE the Second Amendment, right?
