Bill/Issue: Federal "Assault Weapons" bans

  • Position: OPPOSED

Anti-gunners are again clamoring for an "Assault Weapons" ban similar to the one passed during the Bill Clinton administration. And Majority Leader McConnell says discussion of such a ban is not off the table despite Republican control of the Senate.

Dianne Feinstein already has her wretched "Assault Weapons Ban of 2019" (S 66) bill under consideration. However, it's possible additional legislation, amendments, or proposals regarding so-called "assault weapons" could surface.

Make no mistake, any such legislation would almost certainly result in a ban on nearly all rifles. Under current anti-gunner logic, just about any semi-automatic rifle could be considered an "assault weapon" and banned!

What's more, leading Democrats are calling for "buybacks" in parallel with the ban. However, as we've said before, it is impossible for the government to "buy back" property it never owned in the first place.

“The government cannot ‘buy back’ firearms it never owned in the first place,” said FPC President Brandon Combs. “The people of the United States would not comply with a total ban or submit their property for destruction. It’s just not going to happen. Politicians are talking about gun bans for attention and free media exposure just like mass killers do.”

These outrageous calls to ban "Assault Weapons" are rooted in ignorance, would render tens of millions of Americans more unsafe, illegally force law-abiding gun owners to divest themselves of their property, and possibly even send the SWAT team to your door to enforce this awful ban.

Please urge President Trump and the Senate to vote NO on any attempt to ban so-called "Assault Weapons."
