We have a lot of people asking if we filed lawsuits in their city or state. With its plethora of laws and restrictions, it’s no surprise that one of the most common states we’re asked about is California. We’re happy to report that not only do we have almost a dozen cases already filed in California, there are plenty more to come!

Here is a quick breakdown of the cases we're currently working on along with links for more info and to view case documents:

Ninth Circuit:

McDougall v. County of Ventura: Lawsuit challenging the County of Ventura’s orders and actions (1) preventing people from buying guns and ammunition, and (2) forced closures of firearm and ammunition retailers and shooting ranges upon threat of prosecution.

Martinez v. Villanueva: Lawsuit challenging various orders, actions, and closures of firearm and ammunition retailers and shooting ranges upon threat of prosecution.

Jones v. Becerra: Second Amendment challenge to the State of California’s ban on firearm purchases by legal, law-abiding adults over the age of 18 but under the age of 21.

Federal District Court:

Miller v. Becerra: Second Amendment lawsuit challenging California’s ban on so-called “assault weapons”.

Altman v. County of Santa Clara: Lawsuit challenging various Bay Area Orders, actions, and closures of firearm and ammunition retailers and shooting ranges upon threat of prosecution.

Linton v. Becerra: Second Amendment, Full Faith and Credit Clause, Privileges and Immunities Clause, and Fourteenth Amendment constitutional challenge to the State's laws and policies that prevent people who had their firearm rights restored in other states from possessing and purchasing firearms and ammunition in California.

Renna v. Becerra: Second and Fourteenth Amendment lawsuit challenging California’s recently-expanded Roster Handgun Ban, which requires the removal of three firearms for every one added, as well as the ban on self-manufacturing handguns not on DOJ's Roster.

Sharp v. Becerra: Constitutional challenge to the DOJ's defective "bullet button assault weapon" registration system and failures to perform their duties that prevented many Californians from registering their firearms before July 1, 2018, thus denying them exemption from many serious criminal laws.

Wiese v. Becerra: Lawsuit challenging the State of California's ban on standard ("large") capacity magazines.

State Court:

Campos v. Becerra: Lawsuit against the California Attorney General and Bureau of Firearms over their intentional delay of firearm transactions past the statutory ten-day waiting period absent a legal basis.
